State Farm Insurance - Not A Good Neighbor
For those owning Naples FL real estate in coastal areas may want to start comparative shopping for next year’s homeowners insurance - State Farm Insurance plans to drop about 50,000 homeowners policies for coastal customers as part of a plan to reduce its overall hurricane exposure in Florida, starting January 2008. The insurer also announced it will cancel wind coverage policies for some additional coastal Florida homeowners. However, no one is expected to lose coverage during the 2007 hurricane season. The company is advising its customers to contact their insurance agents to find out whether their individual policies will be dropped.

Got something to say?

I found out the hard way the State Farm is a “fair-weather” insurer. In 1991, hail hit my wood shake roof. I took pictures of 3 inches of hail on the ground and on the roof. They denied the claim and I was forced to go to mediation with y roofing contractor. Remarkably, I lost. The Referee seemed very familiar with these hearings. It came out later that State Farm had denied hundreds of similiar claims. So, he probably had heard other claims as well.
