FLORIDA HOME SALES
The pace for Florida’s existing home sales remained slow in January, though the inventory of homes began to drop in many markets across the state, according to FAR. A total of 9,382 existing homes sold last month for a 27 percent decrease compared to the January 2006 figure; the statewide existing home median price was $239,300.
In the evening of March 1st, I will be posting information for the month of February for the Naples home and condo markets.
FLORIDA REAL ESTATE TAX REFORM
While state lawmakers prepare to tackle the complicated issue of property tax reform when the Florida Legislature convenes next week, they can consider examples set by other states that either have tried or are currently considering some of the proposals under review, such as capping government spending.
Capping government spending???? I wonder if the county governments as well as the state government uses zero based budgetting. With zero based budgetting the department heads would have to rejustify their department’s expenditures rather than just adding an inflation factor.
